Environmental Management

Our Environmental Management System (EMS) assesses and manages environmental risk to achieve continual improvement in environmental performance. It is built on the principles of ISO 14001:2004, an international standard. Our Environmental Policy is the cornerstone of our EMS and encourages us to strive for environmental excellence.

Our EMS is driven by an electronic system (EMISWeb) developed to record and facilitate activities undertaken to fulfil Verve Energy’s due diligence requirements. EMISWeb is available to all employees through our intranet.

Currently the EMS at Perth Office, Muja Power Station and Kwinana Power Station are externally certified to ISO14001:2004.

Environmental training courses are regularly provided to our people to develop and maintain the awareness and skills necessary to continually improve Verve Energy's environmental performance. Training and awareness activities are a key component of our EMS.

Site-specific environmental management programs (EMPs) and initiatives are developed locally and coordinated by local or regional EMS Team Leaders to promote ownership of environmental improvements.
